01 / THE BRIEF
The project involved transforming a 60 m² open-plan garage into a functional and welcoming cosmetology clinic in Orihuela Costa, Spain. The client's requirements included a comfortable reception and waiting area, two private treatment rooms and a shared bathroom accessible directly from both treatment rooms, without passing through the public waiting area. A key consideration was developing the layout and technical solutions with reference to the applicable Spanish sanitary, accessibility and regulatory requirements for the intended medical activity.
02 / DESIGN SOLUTION
The design process began with comprehensive space planning, transforming a single open garage into a carefully organised clinical environment. The layout integrated two treatment rooms, a welcoming client waiting area and a shared bathroom with direct access from both treatment rooms, creating efficient internal circulation while maintaining separation between public and treatment areas. During demolition, an unexpected load-bearing foundation beam was discovered, requiring substantial revisions to the original design. The project was adapted to accommodate this structural constraint while preserving the client's essential functional requirements. The final design combined practical spatial planning, technical considerations and a cohesive interior concept tailored to the clinic's operational needs.
